Chairman Wilson recognizes Chris Johnston at Board meeting

The Board of Retirement bid farewell to trustee Chris Johnston at its March 25, 2019 Business Meeting. A veteran of the Board for nearly 17 years, Mr. Johnson will soon retire after working for the Ventura County Fire Department for 38 years, most recently as a fire captain.

Safety members elected Mr. Johnson as the Board’s Seventh Member Alternate in 2002, a seat he occupied until being elected as its Seventh Member in 2015. During his tenure, he served as a diligent fiduciary of the pension plan, a regular contributor during meetings and a prudent overseer of VCERA’s $5.5 billion investment portfolio.

In his farewell remarks, Chairman Bill Wilson presented Mr. Johnston with a certificate of appreciation and recognized him as an excellent Board member and early proponent of VCERA’s private equity investments, which have performed very well in recent years.

The Board of Retirement and VCERA staff thank Mr. Johnston for his dedicated service and wish him a long and happy retirement.
